CNC Machining: Process & Hidden Pitfalls
Process:
CAD Drawing Submission → DFM Analysis → Quoting & Lead Time Confirmation → CAM Programming & Machining → In-Process Inspection → Surface Finishing → Final Inspection & Packing
Pitfalls at Each Step:
1、Drawing: 3D model only, no 2D drawing with tolerances. Critical dimensions lack specs — parts won't fit.
2、DFM Analysis: Factory skips it. Poor design (sharp internal corners, deep cavities, thin walls) doubles machining cost.
3、Quoting & Delivery: Quote only covers machining time. Material procurement and outsourced finishing add 1-2 weeks of hidden delay.
4、Machining: Poor CAM toolpath causes surface defects or dimension errors. Tool wear goes unnoticed defects.
5、In-Process Inspection: Factory only does final random check. Defects found too late — rework causes delays.
6、Surface Finishing: Parts outsourced for anodizing/plating. No re-measurement after finishing — holes shrink, threads won't fit.
7、Packing: Poor packaging. Precision parts get scratched or damaged during transit — scrap upon arrival.
How We Protect You:
1、Drawing review: verify 3D/2D match, confirm all critical tolerances
2、Mandatory DFM: identify design issues before machining starts
3、Transparent quoting: material + machining + finishing — no hidden fees
4、On-site QC: incoming material check + in-process inspection + CMM final report
5、Re-measure critical dimensions after surface finishing
6、Packing review + photos before shipment=
Bottom Line:
Every step in CNC machining has traps. We're on the ground, watching the factory at every stage — so nothing becomes your "surprise" after delivery.
